Summary The objectives for this study comes twofold; affirming my own experiences as a Native student in American Indian Studies courses, and documenting the experiences of other Native American students in these courses taught on a predominately white campus. This study will be qualitative in nature; my narrative and the interviews of the participants. I will be looking to see what the interviewees had to endure in these classes, both socially and academically. I will be looking for whether or not their experiences are similar or different to mine. Also, my research will include what a Native professor must endure while teaching Native classes at this same institution. My coding will be based on whether the students benefitted from their interactions from other individuals in the class. The importance of this study is to raise the consciousness of non-Native students and professors about the experiences of Native students and the issues they face in American Indian Studies courses on a predominately non-Native campus.
