Originally founded as the Denver Sheltering Home for Jewish Children in 1907, the home was established for the children of Jewish consumptives, but it also served as an orphanage for Jewish youth, and later as a facility to care for sick Jewish children.  In 1928, it changed its name to the National Home for Jewish Children in Denver expanding its mission to accept children from other parts of the United States.</description>
