About PEAK Digital

PEAK Digital is a collection of creative and scholarly works that support and promote the mission of the University of Denver. The repository contains a wide variety of materials ranging in subject matter. Some of the materials in the repository were created by DU faculty, staff, and students, while others are digital assets acquired by DU to support the university’s mission of research, teaching, and learning.

PEAK Digital is a service of the Penrose Library that collects, preserves, and disseminates digital assets that are of historical or significant value to the University of Denver.

Within the larger context of the missions of the University and the Penrose Library, the mission of PEAK Digital is to provide services for the preservation of and access to digital assets inherent to the research, information, and educational mission of the University of Denver. PEAK Digital serves as a standards-based repository and infrastructure supporting a diverse set of applications, services, and discovery tools that offer long-term management, secure storage, preservation solutions, and, generally, open access to digital assets of enduring value.

The Penrose Library is committed to managing and maintaining the digital assets in PEAK Digital for the use and benefit of current and future generations.

Management and Infrastructure:

PEAK Digital is a collaborative effort between the Penrose Library and the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries. The library manages the digital objects and user accounts while the Alliance provides the hardware and software infrastructure. The site for the repository is hosted by the Alliance.

The PEAK Digital infrastructure is based on Fedora, a software platform that allows for the management and storage of as well as access to digital materials. The public interface is based on Fez. Fez was created by the University of Queensland to specifically interact with Fedora. Both Fez and Fedora are open source software.
